Cocomira Confections Inc.
Introduction: Cocomira’s founder, Anna Janes, spent many years making chocolates for family and friends. Little did she realize, stirring all those pots of toffee, that she was creating the nucleus of her own business in the process. When people began asking her where they could buy her confections, she realized she had a winning product on her hands which changed her life forever.
“When I began making chocolates in my kitchen — for family and friends – I sourced the best ingredients I could find — creamery butter, imported chocolate and the freshest nuts - because I wanted my chocolate to be truly irresistible. As I made the same recipes over and over again, I learned to treat my ingredients with respect; I learned to temper chocolate slowly and roast the nuts thoroughly. As my business has grown, I’ve stayed true to these same principles: use the best ingredients, and take great care in preparing them.”
Cocomira’s original product, Hazelnut Crunch, quickly became a best-seller because of the growing demand for all-natural, gluten-free treats. In 2006, Cocomira introduced a sister product, Espresso Crunch, developed as a natural addition to beverage-themed gift baskets. In 2007, a third product, Maple Crunch, was created - with strong Canadiana graphics and luscious photography - for the tourist trade. More recently, the growing demand for dark chocolate inspired us to create Dark Chocolate Crunch and Pistachio Crunch. In 2011, we introduced our first ‘no nut’ buttercrunch Mocha Latte Crunch.
Today, Cocomira has sales agents and distributors across Canada. You can find our products at Canadian retailers such as Chapters, Indigo, Rexall and Whole Foods Market to name a few. In addition, we proudly export our products to Japan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates.
