Sara Lee TM Holdings LLC
Introduction: Sara Lee was 8 years old when her father, bakery entrepreneur Charlie Lubin, decided to name his new line of cheesecakes after her. Consolidated Foods purchased the business in 1956, and Mr. Lubin continued to serve as a senior executive. In 1985, Consolidated Foods changed its name to Sara Lee Corporation.
Over the years, the corporation diversified to encompass a wide range of food and beverage products. In 2001, Sara Lee expanded beyond sweet baked goods into fresh bread products, when it acquired The EarthGrains Company and a major European bakery company. In 2011, Sara Lee’s fresh bread products became a part of Bimbo Bakeries USA.
Although the real Sara Lee has never had a management role at the company, she has appeared in some television advertisements for the bakery products that bear her name. In her words, her father told her the product “had to be perfect because he was naming it after me.”
Today Sara Lee is a philanthropist who supports the education and advancement of women and girls in science. The bread named after her continues to nourish our customers and delight their taste buds.
